As much as this pains me to say, I’m not perfect. And while I like to be organized, well, sometimes I’m just not.
See, I’ve got full-time kids and a full-time job with a full-time husband and a full-time house. These things demand more hours than days provide, so when the holidays roll around, I make the effort to start early because I know that no matter how hard I try, I’ll end late.
For example, last year I bought my godsons’ Christmas presents in November but they sat by my front door till mid-December (the 20th totally counts as “mid”, right?). So, then there was rushing and stress and the loss of my UPS tracking numbers and fretting over winter weather that could maybe, possibly delay my deliveries.
The presents arrived in time for a Christmas morning unwrapping, but the stress left me feeling rather unraveled. That’s why I’m printing the UPS holiday calendar right now and building in some “Kate time”—you know, the additional month or two that it’ll take for me to get those packages past my front door.
So, I should probably start shopping now. Wish me luck!
