I grew up in the small farming town of Vestaburg in central Michigan – the kind of place where everyone knows everyone, there are relatives in every corner of the county, and people take care of each other in times of need. Even though my family later moved to Georgia, this sense of community and taking care of each other was engrained in my own way of life.
Since starting as an intern with The UPS Foundation last year, I’ve been continually inspired and amazed by their global efforts in support of local communities – whether it’s helping plant trees in Uganda for families who depend on firewood for daily living, or funding scholarships that allow young people to be the first in their family to not only graduate high school but continue on to college.
There’s no doubt that UPSers impact lives in meaningful ways. By giving their time and energy to community organizations, not just during Global Volunteer Month but all through the year, UPSers are showing their heart of service. From all of us at UPS to all of you out in our global community, Happy Valentine’s Day.
