Tree-lined communities enjoy profound environmental and community benefits, including lower energy bills, cleaner air and water, increased property values, neighborhood beauty and civic pride. Partners like UPS are crucial to the Arbor Day Foundation’s effort to maintain urban forests and fulfill our mission to inspire people to plant, nurture and celebrate trees.
We’re excited to work with UPS employees around the world on high-impact tree planting through the company’s Global Forestry Initiative.
By the end of 2013, a million new trees will be growing around the globe – and include Brazil, China, Poland, Russia, Thailand and Vietnam, as well as the U.S. and Canada. (Click here to see a full map of planting locations and learn more about the partnership.)
UPS has worked with the Arbor Day Foundation on replanting 150,000 trees in California’s Plumas National Forest, among other state and national forests. In 2013, we have continued our relationship to take on even more large-scale projects.
Most of the new trees planted by UPS employees will be placed in their own communities or in woodlands nearby.
In our interactions with UPS, it’s clear that company leaders understand their vast network of employees can put a meaningful dent in global environmental challenges.
The Arbor Day Foundation has delivered more than 200 million trees to members, supporters and avid tree planters in every state across America, with an increasing international footprint. We’re glad UPS sought us out as a partner, and look forward to working together to restore and replant global community forests for years to come.
