The Year in Review: Golf Edition (Video)

It’s always exciting to track the progress of our three golf ambassadors, but 2012 has been a particularly incredible year.

It started with Louis Oosthuizen winning the first European Tour event of the year, the Africa Open, in January. What better way to start? He then came within an inch, literally, of winning the Masters, losing in a playoff to Bubba Watson. He did provide one of the tournament’s most spectacular moments ever with his famous double-eagle at the 2nd hole. Just one short week later, Louis recorded his second victory of the season by winning the Maybank Malaysian Open.

The teams are picked, the players are ready and the world expects another weekend of pulsating competition and high drama. Sport’s greatest bi-annual rivalry will reignite this week in the Ryder Cup at The Medinah Country Club, Illinois, as America and Europe’s elite golfers take center stage.

Team USA will be out to regain the famous trophy, after Europe claimed a narrow one-point victory in 2010 at Celtic Manor, Wales. This time around, the teams will again be closely matched, as both contain experienced matchplay champions, promising rookies, big-hitters and steady eddies. A lot will depend on how captains Davis Love III (USA) and José María Olazábal (Europe) pair their stars together for Friday and Saturday’s foursomes and four-balls.

UPS launches new golf website as two UPS Ambassadors compete at The Masters

The best golfers in the world have descended on Georgia for the first ‘major’ tournament of 2011, The Masters.  Two of UPS’s Ambassadors, Lee Westwood and Louis Oosthuizen, are teeing it up in Augusta this week and the newly refreshed site, www.ups.com/golf, is the perfect place to check their progress in the tournament. You also will find current statistics on Jeev Milka Singh, our third Ambassador, throughout the 2011 season.
