It’s Cyber Monday and more people are predicted to shop online than ever before. Special offers and the ability to shop even after the malls are closed are just two of the reasons why I click and purchase.
But what about the shipping?
That’s where UPS lends its expertise to get those holiday gifts under the tree in time – and if the gifts you receive aren’t quite what you wanted, UPS provides many options to make returns easy and hassle-free, too.
The hectic shopping season is almost here and my friends and I have already started plotting how to find the best deals. UPS is working with Mompreneur bloggers and will share how to save time and money during our #HassleFreeHolidays Twitter party.
Join us @UPS on Wednesday, November 14th at 1 and 5 p.m. EST.
Earlier this year, UPS launched the Latino Business Resource Group (ULBRG) for the Atlanta corporate campus. For me personally, the drive to create the group started after I attended a Women’s Leadership Development (WLD) event featuring Janet Murguia, President of the National Council of La Raza (NCLR). I realized that Latino UPSers could benefit from a BRG modeled after the WLD to engage with the Latino community.
I soon discovered that Juan Perez and Sandra Carrau were also engaging the Latino community with UPS. With excellent guidance from HR we chartered the group. Juan is the executive sponsor, I serve as Chair and Sandra serves as co-Chair.
It’s hard to believe that just a year ago we launched UPS My Choice. We’ve signed up more than 1.8 million consumers since then and delivered more than 20 million packages to My Choice members. We continue to hear from our customers how using My Choice makes receiving packages much easier. We also get lots of questions, such as:
Q: I am going to be traveling this holiday season and don’t want to have any packages delivered while I am gone. Can I have my packages held?
A: Yes! We recently added a vacation option. All you need to do is navigate to your preferences page under the “Vacation Options” section and tell us when you will be gone. Select whether you want us to deliver your packages to your local The UPS Store (good for vacations lasting up to 7 days) or have us deliver them the day after you return (good for vacations lasting up to 14 days).
For the past 365 days, UPS My Choice has been helping almost 2 million consumers get their shipments delivered when and where it’s convenient for them. UPS sends an email or text the day before the package arrives and if the delivery time doesn’t work, there are options to reschedule or reroute it.
Throughout the past year, UPS has sent more than 20 million of those delivery alerts and delivered 18 million UPS My Choice shipments! That’s pretty good for a service that’s just getting started.
To celebrate, @UPS is having two Twitter parties. Join us on Wednesday, October 3 to learn more about UPS My Choice and how it can help you have a hassle-free holiday. Our team of experts will offer tips on how to navigate the bustling shopping and shipping season.
Telecommuting is the best thing since sliced bread. No more fighting traffic all the way to the office and all the way home, usually arriving at both locations tired and angry. No more distractions from the account execs who hold impromptu meetings in the hall outside your cubicle. No more having to restrain yourself from beating a misbehaving printer into submission. Do your job without going to work – what a concept! As long as you have all the equipment and supplies you need, can’t you really do your job anywhere?
NASCAR race teams take this concept to an entirely different level. They employ massive tractor-trailers to transport the team racecar and gear from track to track from February to November. Excuse me, racecars. There are two cars in each hauler – the primary car and a backup. But the cars occupy less than half of the space in the trailer. Beneath the cars one will find an astonishing array of tools, parts, uniforms – even entire replacement engines – AND a command center room, where team members gather to monitor weather forecasts, plan raceday strategy or just grab a quick bite. The hauler drivers must have honorary PhD’s in logistics because they are master planners and packers – they know exactly where to find any item in the hauler, right down to each tiny nut, bolt or screw.
“What is UPS doing at a bridal show?” I heard that question a dozen times recently during the Georgia Bridal Show. Naturally everyone was curious. It doesn’t seem like the most intuitive relationship – but speaking as a bride (with three months to go!) and a UPSer, nothing requires logistics more than planning a wedding.
Within fifteen minutes of the doors opening, the UPS booth was overwhelmed with brides, grooms and their friends wanting to learn more about our new service UPS My Choice®.
I might be one of the last few people who doesn’t shop online. Forgive me, but I LOVE trying on fabulous shoes. Sometimes all you need is a little retail therapy and sorry – I can’t get that experience over the Internet. I’m definitely in the minority; about 75 million people out there buy something online once every three months.
Today, comScore and UPS released a new study analyzing consumers’ online shopping behaviors. The Online Shopping Customer Experience Study polled more than 3,100 online shoppers to gain insight from pre-purchase to post-delivery. Free shipping and even free returns is a hot topic in the retail industry and the survey confirmed it’s important to online shoppers, but the results also showed it’s not the only driver on the online super highway. In fact, 40% of consumers said they are willing to pay for shipping if it means they can receive their packages faster.
“The terminology [of sustainability] has changed, but it’s changed for very sound business reasons,” Abney said, adding that customers have become a powerful catalyst for sustainability in recent years.
“What really has changed is the number of customers looking at us to manage their supply chains from an environmental perspective. Customers were demanding we pay attention (to sustainability),” he said in response to questions from Fortune reporter Geoff Colvin.
At UPS, we’re proud to love logistics. Planning, multi-tasking, transporting … yes, we love it all. But there’s one group that shines as the “original logistics experts” – Moms. They’re often the engineers in the family … keeping everything (and everyone) synchronized while skillfully navigating daily obstacles. At the heart of logistics is a well-run operation. And at the heart of the family is mom.
So how do you celebrate the “CEO” of the family?
Our #Deliver2Mom Twitter Parties will deliver fun ideas and a bit of inspiration to honor moms. We’ll also offer tips to keep your gift giving (and gift shipping) experience hassle free … such as packing advice from The UPS Store and how to manage your deliveries with UPS My Choice.
